An enfilade of seven galleries, which formed the original core of the Museum building, required complete refurbishment. Our award-winning solution reinstated the original decorative scheme based on the evidence of archive photographs and long lost fragments. Modern facilities are now incorporated into Victorian-style features. For example, a new heating system is concealed within a continuous bracketed dado, and a new lighting system was incorporated in replicas of the original gasolier fittings. The showcases are the best of modern all-glass all-fibreoptic technology. They contain the national collection of silver, with masterpieces ranging from the 14th century up to the present day. All graphics were designed, including pick-up label cards. There is an interactivity area including an object handling table and computer database. |
